Energy Saving Information

Your AC and heating system uses more energy and drains more energy dollars than any other system in your home. Experts say that typically, 46% of your utility bill goes for heating and cooling. No matter what kind of system you have in your house, you can save money by properly maintaining and upgrading your equipment. The other important factors are having appropriate insulation, air sealing, and thermostat settings. Here is some other important information:

  • You can save as much as 10% a year on your utility bill by turning back your thermostat back 10% to 15% for 8 hours a day. You can do this manually or by having a programmable thermostat installed.
  • Have your duct work checked for leakage and/ or poor insulation. Your system could be losing much of its capacity because of duct work that is in poor shape.
  • Avoid placing lamps or TV sets near thermostats because heat will be detected and will cause the air conditioner to run longer.

These are just a few energy saving tips to help you save money. For more advice or information on our energy efficient Carrier heat pump system line up, give us a call at 229-244-0192.

Home Air Conditioning

Home air conditioning is a luxurious component of living indoors. It is fair to assume that many people do have air conditioning in South Georgia, but there are still people out there that must go with out every summer. Since air conditioning is considered a luxury it can tend to be expensive to buy and maintain. Many homeowners do not think much of their AC system until it breaks down or runs their power bill up beyond belief. If you neglect your AC system, it will break down and it will cost more in energy consumption to operate – meaning a higher power bill.

In future posts I will make many comparisons of AC systems and cars. Both of these items are luxuries and both can tend to be expensive to maintain, but you can live without them and still survive. The question is: How much money are you willing to invest in it and do you want your family friend’s cousin’s nephew to work on it when it breaks down? My answer is that I love air conditioning and I cannot do without it if it breaks down. I only want the best to work on it and keep it running at a low cost. Any thoughts? AC repair costs

Air Conditioning repair costs can vary greatly from one contractor to another. Reputable air conditioning contractors in Valdosta will tend to have similar costs for repairs across the board, but there are guys out there that have a truck and some tools of the trade that will do a repair for next to nothing. They will get your money and you  will never see them again. A reputable AC company invests a lot into training, insurances, equipment, and quality, drug free employees to come to your house.

Shopping for an AC system in Valdosta

When buying a central AC system make sure it is 13 SEER (seasonal energy efficiency ratio) or higher. In warmer climates, like Valdosta, it is better to have a 14 SEER or higher unit. The up front cost on higher efficient systems is more, but the long run energy savings will save you more and cover the extra cost.
